Job summary

Mauser Packaging Solutions is seeking a production team member to operate and set up coating machinery in the Materials Center. You will ensure proper flow of coating materials, adjust equipment, and maintain quality and safety during shifts.

Ideal candidates will have experience with manufacturing equipment, be able to follow written and verbal instructions, and be available for 2nd or 3rd shift, weekends and holidays as scheduled.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Summary

Under general supervision, participants in all aspects of sheet feed Lithography & Coating in the Material Center.

Responsibilities
  • Set-up and operate coating machinery
  • Adjust coating machinery for efficient operation
  • Change coater rollers
  • Maintain proper flow of coating material
  • Check and maintain proper over temperature control
  • Move guides, adjust belt, adjust gripper rolls
  • Adjust micrometer setting utilizing feeler gauges
  • Instruct and coordinate activities of stacker
  • Keep machinery operating efficient operation by oiling, greasing or painting
  • Open and remove wrapping from bundles
  • Wash and clean machines
  • Check tin plate for proper specifications and gauging before loading into feeder
  • Check production orders
  • Hammer out bent sheets
  • Maintain function of counter and verify count
  • Check viscosity of coating at least every half-hour using Ford cup and pocket watch
  • Perform other duties, such as but not limited to: replace spoiled sheets, prepare load tickets, remove a coated sheet from the oven at least every half-hour and compare with previously coated sheets
  • Prepare shift production reports
  • Responsible for quantity and quality of production from coater
  • Check at least two sheets per load for visual defects and check registration when necessary
  • Relieve adjacent operators for lunch and break periods
  • Sort and/or stack plate, when needed
  • Operate bundle turner, when needed
  • Perform film weight checks to Cincinnati quality specifications
Requirements
  • Previous experience operating manufacturing equipment efficiently required.
  • Must be able to use scale and margin guides
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Understand plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training
  • Must be able to understand verbal and written instructions
  • Must be available to work 2nd or 3rd shift, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
  • Ability to be on feet up to 8-12 hours per shift
  • Frequently lift 35 pounds or more, stand on feet long periods of time, and walk often.
  • Use of hands and fingers to perform job function
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and climb
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to stand and talk or hear; and walk or sit. The employee is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move tools, materials and equipment weighing up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this class, the incumbent is regularly required to use written and oral communication skills; read and interpret data, information and documents; analyze and solve problems; use shop mathematics; observe and interpret situations; deal with changing, intensive deadlines; and interact with other team members.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this class. The employee predominantly works inside with warm to hot conditions, near moving mechanical parts, and on slippery and uneven surfaces. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions, fumes or minor airborne particles and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.
