You will set up coating machines, monitor temperatures and speeds, adjust settings, document quality checks, and participate in 5S and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in manufacturing or strong mechanical aptitude preferred.
  • Comfort with machine setups and adjustments.
  • Intermediate computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
  • Willingness to work weekends and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Review production schedules to determine coating solutions and changeovers.
  • Start, stop, and operate coating equipment using control panels.
  • Set up machines that mix chemicals and apply coatings to film.
  • Align and secure rollers, blades, and other components.
  • Thread and feed film through rollers and adjust machine settings.
  • Monitor machines and products for defects and adjust as needed.
  • Record production quantities and complete quality-control documentation.
  • Operate forklifts and move materials as required.
  • Follow hazardous-material procedures and wear respirators when needed.

Description
Kelly® is hiring a Coater / Machine Operator for a growing specialty-film manufacturer. This is a hands‑on opportunity for someone with manufacturing experience or strong mechanical aptitude who enjoys operating equipment, completing machine changeovers, inspecting finished products, and keeping production running safely and efficiently.

Pay and Schedule
  • Pay: $22–$24 per hour, based on experience
  • Additional $0.75 per hour 2nd-shift differential
  • Schedule: Monday–Friday, 3:00 PM–11:00 PM
  • Overtime required as production needs arise
  • Must be available to work Saturday and Sunday approximately one to two weekends per month
What You’ll Do
  • Review production schedules to determine coating solutions, machine timing, and required changeovers
  • Start, stop, and operate coating equipment using machine control panels
  • Set up machines that mix chemicals and apply specialized coatings to film
  • Align and secure rollers, blades, and other machine components using hand tools
  • Thread and feed film through rollers
  • Adjust machine temperature, speed, product flow, and other operating settings
  • Monitor machines and products to identify defects or deviations from specifications
  • Make machine adjustments to maintain product quality and production efficiency
  • Operate coating, imprinting, rewinding, and material‑handling equipment
  • Clean machines and components between production runs
  • Inspect, measure, weigh, and test products to verify conformance with specifications
  • Operate quality‑testing equipment and make pass/fail decisions
  • Record production quantities and complete required quality‑control documentation
  • Print production run sheets and labels using computer equipment
  • Load, unload, pack, and transport products and machine components
  • Operate forklifts, fork trucks, pallet jacks, carts, and barrel‑handling equipment
  • Move 55‑gallon drums using barrel carts or pallet jacks
  • Follow hazardous‑material procedures when working with solvents and coatings
  • Learn product codes, color‑numbering systems, formulas, thinning solvents, and material‑identification processes
  • Cross‑train in other departments and assist other operators as needed
  • Mix ink, paint, or coating solutions when required
  • Support 5S, safety, quality, and continuous‑improvement activities
This Position May Be an Excellent Fit If You
  • Have a high school diploma or GED
  • Have manufacturing experience or strong mechanical aptitude
  • Are comfortable performing machine setups and adjustments
  • Possess intermediate computer skills
  • Have strong attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Can accurately follow job orders, formulas, testing procedures, and standard operating procedures
  • Are comfortable working with chemicals, coatings, solvents, and hazardous materials
  • Are willing to learn and cross‑train in other production areas
  • Can adapt to a challenging, fast‑paced manufacturing environment
  • Have experience with 5S practices, although this is not required
  • Have forklift or material‑handling experience, preferred but not required
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently stand and walk around production equipment
  • Regularly use your hands to handle machine components and materials
  • Reach, bend, and move throughout the production area
  • Hear operating machinery, forklifts, and coworkers
  • Lift and move up to 65 pounds as needed
  • Complete respiratory‑clearance testing and wear a respirator when required
  • Work safely around chemicals, solvents, machinery, forklifts, and moving equipment
  • Comply with the facility’s 100% smoke‑free campus policy
  • Complete confined‑space entry when required for specific machines
