Job summary

Oregon State University (OSU) seeks eight part-time Wave Lab Student Technical Assistants for the Hinsdale Wave Lab in the College of Engineering. The role involves assisting with coastal wave tests, instrumentation, and data collection within a controlled lab environment.

Candidates must be enrolled in a high school, college, or university program, meet academic standing requirements, and be able to lift 25 kg. Training and safety gear are provided; driving university vehicles may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience working with hand tools.
• Ability to lift 25 kg.
• Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study.
• Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment.
• Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, preparation, instrumentation, execution, recovery and cleanup of physical model tests in wave labs.
• Work in a semi-open environment with variable temperatures.
• Operate common wood and metal shop tools and data collection systems.
• Drive OSU Motor Pool vehicles to transport materials and models.
• Work near water and in potential standing water up to 1 m, with safety gear provided.
