Job summary

Anchor QEA seeks a Managing Environmental Planner in Norfolk, VA, Baltimore, MD, or remote work to lead multidisciplinary teams on coastal resilience and restoration projects across the U.S. East Coast.

You will manage scope, schedule, budget, and client relationships through concept, design, permitting, construction, and post-construction monitoring. The role requires coordinating with federal, state, and local agencies, leading technical teams, and delivering reports, plans, and permit

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Coastal Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Marine Science, Coastal Geology, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in coastal resilience, habitat restoration, sediment management or environmental consulting.
• Proven ability to develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, contracts, and subcontractors.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Manage coastal resilience, habitat restoration, sediment management and nature-based infrastructure projects from planning through design, permitting, construction, and monitoring.
• Oversee planning, design, and implementation of living shorelines, oyster reef restoration, marsh restoration, TLP and related activities.
• Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and contracts, coordinating subcontractors.
• Serve as primary client contact, maintaining relationships and achieving objectives.
• Coordinate with federal, state, and local agencies to support permitting, compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
• Manage subcontractors and consultants to ensure timely, high-quality delivery.
• Provide QA/QC for reports, plans, specifications, permit applications, and construction documents.
• Support field investigations, site assessments, monitoring programs, and data collection on coastal/ecological projects.
• Facilitate meetings and stakeholder engagement with clients, agencies, and communities.
• Prepare and deliver technical presentations to clients and agencies.
• Identify opportunities for coastal resilience and restoration work.
