Qualifications

• USCG License required (25/50/100-ton options acceptable).
• 5+ years commanding commercial or research vessels.
• Strong navigation, piloting, and seamanship skills.
• Experience operating in coastal and offshore environments.
• Proficiency with navigation systems (GPS, radar, chartplotters).
• Valid TWIC and ability to pass background checks.
• Current medical certification and ability to work extended periods at sea.

Responsibilities

• Command and navigate survey vessels in coastal, harbor, and offshore waters.
• Maintain precise vessel positioning and track lines during survey operations.
• Ensure vessel and crew safety in accordance with USCG regulations.
• Coordinate with hydrographic teams on survey planning and execution.
• Monitor weather conditions and make operational decisions accordingly.
• Perform routine vessel maintenance and coordinate repairs.
• Maintain vessel logs, inspection records, and compliance documentation.
• Supervise deck crew and ensure proper safety procedures are followed.
