Job summary

The City of Boca Raton is hiring an Ocean Rescue Lifeguard to protect beachgoers at the Oceanfront public access areas by performing rescues and providing medical assistance in line with established guidelines.

Applicants must hold CPR/AED and First Aid certifications and Lifeguard training. You will undergo pre-employment testing including a 500-meter swim and rescue scenarios, and work under supervision to ensure public safety and a positive beach experience.

Qualifications

• Must hold CPR/AED and First Aid certifications.
• Lifeguard training certification required.
• Ability to pass pre-employment swim and fitness tests.

Responsibilities

• Observes beach and ocean from tower for unsafe conditions and signals patrons to stay clear.
• Maintains awareness of life-threatening situations and responds to emergencies.
• Patrols the beach, warns beach patrons of dangerous conditions, and carries rescue equipment.
• Treats minor first-aid injuries and assists with rescue operations as needed.
