Job summary

State of North Carolina - Department of Transportation is seeking a Marine Maintenance Deckhand (S) to support dredging, piling, and ramp work along the North Carolina coast. The role travels to project sites with a 7 days on / 7 days off schedule and live-aboard accommodations during shifts.

This temporary position may require TWIC and additional certifications; health benefits may apply under HDHP for eligible temporary employees, with supervision provided. Report to Marine Maintenance Master.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; related experience may qualify under education equivalency.
• TWIC card required; may require U.S. Coast Guard or related certifications.
• Ability to work outdoors in coastal environments and lift heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Assist dredging activities and monitor dredge operations and pipelines.
• Assist with piling repairs and maintenance, dolphin structures.
• Assist in ramp and gantry system maintenance and deck painting.
