Job summary

The University of New Hampshire’s Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping seeks a Software Developer / Scientific Programmer to design, implement, and maintain production-quality software for shallow-water bathymetry and coastal geospatial data products. You will translate research algorithms into reliable code and lead automated data-processing workflows in Python, C++, and MATLAB.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or software engineering or closely related field.
• 3+ years developing and testing software for coastal/nearshore remote sensing.
• Production-quality software in Python, C++, and MATLAB.
• Experience with large scientific datasets and reproducible workflows.
• Experience with ICESat-2/ATLAS bathymetric data and NOAA SatBathy software.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of scientific software systems.
• Build modular, well-documented code for point-cloud processing and bathymetric applications.
• Implement scalable workflows using Python, C++, MATLAB, and geospatial formats.
• Promote best practices: documentation, testing, CI, data provenance, and reproducibility.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and partners; prepare user guides and training materials.
