SPENCER CENTER in Cincinnati, Ohio seeks a part-time Varsity Head Cross Country Coach for both girls and boys programs. The role requires mentoring student-athletes, developing training plans, and ensuring safety and eligibility in coordination with CPS athletics.

The candidate should have track coaching experience, fundraising ability, and a commitment to high standards of sportsmanship and character. Ohio PAP/CTC training and a teaching certificate are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Varsity Head Cross Country Coach for both the Girls and Boys Program.
  • Direct, train, and motivate student-athletes to enhance long distance running.
  • Direct and train student-athletes to enhance performance in Cross Country.
  • Develop and execute an effective training program.
  • Monitor, mentor, and motivate student-athletes on and off the Circuit.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
  • Instruct and guide student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success.
  • Instruct and guild student-athletes to lead them to the formulation and enhancement of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence.
  • Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and skills development.
  • Schedule a full season of contests including State-Tournament Track Meets.
  • Work cooperatively and in a timely manner with SchoolAthletic Office and CPS District Athletics Department.
  • Check the status of academic eligibility for all prospective student-athletes.
  • Follow District Athletic Department Policy as outlined in Coaches Handbook and meet all criteria.
  • Meet all requirements set forth by the State Board of Education, CPS, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA), and The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) relative to mandated Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) and ODE PAP.
  • Recognize the need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies.
  • Provide all applicable in-season training rules as well as any out-of-season conduct to team members in writing.
  • Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to games and practices, positivity, respect, and constructive criticism while upholding program disciplines.
  • Be appropriately dressed at all times.
  • Maintains suitable sideline conduct, including language.
  • Accept and profit from constructive criticism and suggestions.
  • Participate in clinics and other programs to improve coaching performance.
  • Participate in School Events (Awards Night, Pep Assemblies, Boosters Meetings).
  • Show physical vitality and good judgment.
  • Be competent in techniques of the sport and adaptable to changing game situations.
  • Be well-versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport and coaching techniques.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Recognizethe need to be aware of and implement all applicable administrative policies set forth by the Board of Education, Superintendents of Schools, School Principals, Conference Leagues, OHSAA.
  • Provideall applicable in-season training rules as well as any that may apply to out-of-season conduct to team members in writing prior to the start of the season. Followappropriate due process procedures when violations occur.
  • Model the behavior expected of our student-athletes including timeliness to games and practices. being positive and enthusiastic, being respectful, and practicing constructive criticism while upholding the disciplines of the program.
  • Beappropriately dressed at all times.
  • Maintainsuitable sideline conduct, including the use of appropriate language, at all times.
  • Acceptand profitfrom constructive criticism and suggestions for improving coaching performance.
  • Participatein clinics and other available programs to improve coaching performance.
  • Participatein School Events (i.e., Awards Night Programs, Pep Assemblies, Athletic Boosters Meetings, etc.).

  • Provide a satisfactory result on a County Police Records Check,State BCII Check, andFBI Fingerprint Background Check.
  • Possess an Ohio Department of Education (ODE) Pupils Activity Permit (PAP).
  • Provide proof of completion of Coaches Tool Chest (CTC) Training/Certification
