East Side Union High School District is seeking a talented mural artist to coach high school students in designing, planning, and implementing a mural project as part of the visual arts curriculum.

The ideal candidate will inspire creativity, collaborate with Visual Arts Instructors, and foster a diverse, expressive artistic environment that benefits the school and community.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a mural artist with a portfolio
• Ability to guide students through the creative process from concept to installation
• Knowledge of safety practices for mural projects
• Experience working with youth, especially teenagers, preferred
• Strong communication and collaboration with Visual Arts Instructors

• Collaborate with the Visual Arts Instructor to design a mural aligned with the Visual Arts curriculum
• Guide students through planning, sketching, and executing the mural
• Mentor students and develop artistic skills for public art

Job Summary

The East Side Union High School District (ESUHSD) is seeking a talented and passionate Mural Artist as a coach to collaborate with our Visual Arts Instructors working with high school students in designing, planning, and implementing a mural project as part of our visual arts curriculum. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about working with teens, have a collaborative and open-minded approach, and be committed to fostering an atmosphere of creativity and expression that celebrates diversity of East Side. This is a fantastic opportunity for an artist who is passionate about making an impact in the community and inspiring the next generation of muralists.

Requirements / Qualifications

Qualifications/Certifications:

• Proven experience as a mural artist, with a portfolio that showcases completed mural projects
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work alongside Visual Arts Instructors to enhance curriculum and student engagement
• Ability to guide students through the creative process, from concept development and design to planning, surface preparation, and installation
• Knowledge of safety practices, appropriate materials, and maintenance considerations for outdoor and indoor mural projects
• Experience working with youth, especially teenagers, preferred

Selected candidates must pass fingerprint clearance and provide current TB test results PRIOR to employment.

Key Tasks/Duties:

• Collaborate with the Visual Arts Instructor to design a mural that aligns with the educational goals of the Visual Arts course and engages students in critical thinking and creative problem-solving
• Guide students through the creative process of planning, sketching, and executing the mural
• Mentor and support students in developing their artistic skills while creating a meaningful and impactful piece of public art
