Job summary

Tucson Unified School District is seeking a temporary athletic supervisor for Utterback Middle School in the 2026-2027 season. The role requires safeguarding student-athletes, supervising during practices and travel, and upholding sportsmanship.

Candidates must hold NFHS certifications, current CPR/First Aid, and a valid Arizona IVP fingerprint card, with immunization proof on file. Ability to work Saturdays is required.

Qualifications

• Must complete NFHS Sportsmanship and Concussion certificates
• Must review health and safety certifications and provide proof
• Must have CPR w/AED and First Aid current
• Must present Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
• Proof of immunity to measles and rubella or MMR vaccination

Responsibilities

• Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in student-athletes
• Ensure safety and welfare of participants in practice, locker rooms, buses, and during the season
• Supervise activities and interact professionally with players, parents, staff, officials, and spectators
• Treat interscholastic activities as an extension of the classroom and model appropriate behavior

Job description

Summary

Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in student-athletes. Provide for the safety and welfare of all participants. Supervise students in practice areas, locker rooms, busses, and at all times during the season. Exercise patience, tolerance, and diplomacy in relations with all players, parents, co-workers, contest officials, and spectators. Interscholastic activities are an extension of the classroom and as such, your actions, behavior, and interactions with our student-athletes should be reflective of this.

Minimum Requirements

• NFHS Sportsmanship Certificate (at employee's expense) Sportsmanship Course
• NFHS Concussion certificate Concussion in Sports Course ATC Student-Athlete Health & Wellness certificate (must review PowerPoint and sign a document affirming PowerPoint has been reviewed)
• Act on Facts Suicide Prevention Training OR NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention certificate Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Course
• Current CPR w/AED (On-line classes are not accepted; EMT license supersedes this requirement) Current First Aid (On-line classes are not accepted; EMT license supersedes this requirement)
• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card

Must be available to work on Saturdays as needed.

Requirements Prior To Start Date

• Bloodborne pathogen training after hire by TUSD Risk Management Department*
• Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

Season Dates - October into December

STIPEND to be prorated for days missed in the sports season due to late starts or early terminations.

This position is temporary and not eligible for district benefits.
