Job description

About Career Prep (CP)

Career Prep is an 18+-month leadership development program that equips undergraduates to gain career-accelerating skills not taught in classrooms, cultivate personal clarity and connect with top employers for potential internships and full-time roles. Traditionally, 90%+ of Career Prep Fellows secure full-time offers by graduation.

The Opportunity

Coaches are key members of the Career Prep team with primary responsibility for successfully guiding a cohort of Fellows through the Career Prep curriculum, contributing to the development of program curriculum and seminar content, understanding job opportunities available at corporate partner organizations, and monitoring fellow progression and outcomes.

Coaches know and understand the qualities required for successful candidates to secure a top internship and career opportunities. These coaches execute our proven playbook to ensure the program delivers highly qualified candidates for corporate partner organizations. To this end, Coaches develop a keen understanding of the success profile expected in our target industries and have the ability to nurture and guide Fellows through their development of these skills and hold them accountable along the way.

An ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the college internship experience, demonstrate knowledge of corporate talent requirements, high emotional intelligence, ability to hold students accountable, and build rapport with Fellows, corporate partners, and MLT Staff. This is a remote role reporting to the Director of one of four tracks (Software Engineering / Tech; Consulting; Financial Services; Corporate Management).

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and coach a portfolio of Fellows - via 1:1 and group sessions - through our career development and leadership curriculum and personalized career roadmap.
  • Obtain, record, track and manage Fellow outcomes, updates, and qualitative data in our database.
  • Create and deliver content for Career Prep seminars and webinars, often in conjunction with corporate partners.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and corporate partners to understand the career opportunities available to undergraduates and the success profile required.
  • Advise, educate, and prepare Fellows for their best potential job opportunities based on the career roadmap, their skills, and their potential for growth.
  • Assist the Career Prep team with fulfilling its growth strategy over the next several years by working with the recruitment and admissions team as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in either Software Engineering / Technology, Consulting, Financial Services, or Corporate Management, with a proven record of strong professional achievements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the bar for success in top private-sector organizations - and how to coach fellows to meet that bar.
  • Demonstrated bias for action and ability to remain flexible in a growing organization.
  • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build meaningful, quality relationships.
  • Experience tracking and reporting data; experience using Salesforce preferred.
  • Passion for and track record of coaching college students and/or professionals.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least two weekends a year to program seminars and events, hosted in various locations nationally.
