About Coach Across America

Founded in 2010, Coach Across America is a national nonprofit organization focused on the power of coaches to transform the lives of our nation’s most vulnerable youth and the communities they live in through sports. Coach Across America is based on the simple premise that highly trained coaches can be among the most transformative adults in young people’s lives and inspire their success on the field, in the classroom, and in life. Coach Across America coaches serve a one year AmeriCorps service term in underserved communities in partnership with local nonprofits, schools, and sports organizations to support. Our CAA / AmeriCorps coaches participate in Sports-Based Youth Development training that emphasizes the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) skills needed to help youth reach their full potential.

About Southern California Youth Sports Solutions

So Cal Youth Sports Solutions youth soccer leagues are designed for families who want more than just weekend games—they want development, structure, and a supportive experience for their children ages 5 to 12. Unlike traditional community leagues, where coaching quality and program structure can vary, every aspect of our league is led by qualified, professional coaches with backgrounds in elite youth development. Our coaches focus on building each player’s confidence, decision‑making, and understanding of the game through age‑appropriate formats like 1v1, 3v3 + goalkeepers, and small‑sided matches proven to maximize touches and learning.

We are looking for a half time youth sports coach who will serve an AmeriCorps service term of 900 hours over one year to support the sports programs, clinics, and play of So Cal Youth Sports Solutions.

Job Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

• The ability to stand and walk several hundred yards a day is the expectation during a work shift. Sitting with members occurs but is less frequent.
• Physically fit with the ability to play
• Talk or hear; use hands; handle or feel objects, tools or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
• Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and may be infrequently required to run.
• Must remain physically fit enough to keep children safe in an emergency.
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Additionally, coaches must complete the following requirements to ensure successful completion of the AmeriCorps program:

• Commit to completion of the minimum required hours (900) of service and training by the last day of coach contract
• Completion of bi‑weekly timesheets
• Attend/participate in Coach Across America orientation, trainings, meetings, service days, and special initiatives
• Must wear Coach Across America branded t‑shirts with AmeriCorps logo when coaching and at program sessions and events

Hours and Stipend

Must complete 900 total hours of coaching and program support within the contract year.

Living Allowance/Stipend: $12,150 total (Paid bi‑weekly) Education Award: $3,697.50 upon completing 900 hours, usable for education‑related expenses.

* There will be additional dates and hours added as the winter schedule and tournaments are finalized. Regular weekly schedule, September through November:
- Tuesdays: 4:00-8:00 p.m.
- Thursdays: 4:00-8:00 p.m.
- Saturdays: 8:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
- Sundays: 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Administrative work will include sending parent communications twice each week, responding to league enquiries and parent questions, and supporting the onboarding of families into classes.
Additional confirmed camp dates:
- Thanksgiving Camp in Glendale: Monday, November 23 through Wednesday, November 25, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. each day
- Winter Camp: Monday, December 21 through Wednesday, December 23, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. each day
After the September-November league season, we will move into a winter league season and tournaments. Those dates and specific working hours are still to be confirmed and will be added once finalized.
