Job summary

PeaceHealth in Vancouver, WA is seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant. This full-time, 0.80 FTE position supports ophthalmology care from patient check-in to testing and education, working with a collaborative team on a day shift.

Qualifications

  • Completion of an accredited Ophthalmic Assistant program or equivalent training.
  • One year of experience in an ophthalmology practice preferred.
  • BLS required upon hire; MA-R in Washington state within 120 days; COA certification within one year; COA exam within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and room patients and gather ocular, medical, and family histories.
  • Document patient information accurately in the EMR.
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures.
  • Perform ophthalmic testing (visual acuity, fields, IOP, refractions) as appropriate.
  • Educate patients about eye conditions, meds, and care; dispense contact lenses as needed.
