Job summary

Onward Education, partnering with a Cook County school district, seeks a dedicated Special Education Teacher (LBS1) for 2026–2027. The 7th Grade Co-Taught Inclusion classroom supports ELA and Math with collaboration across general education teachers to meet student needs.

The full-time, onsite role requires solid knowledge of IEPs, accommodations, data-informed instruction, and a passion for inclusive education. Mature collaboration and organizational skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, accommodations, modifications, and compliance requirements.
• Experience supporting students in inclusion and co-taught classroom settings preferred.
• Strong collaboration, communication, classroom management, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction and support to students with disabilities in a co-teaching environment.
• Implement and monitor IEP goals, accommodations, modifications, and instructional supports.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to ensure access to grade-level curriculum.
• Monitor student progress and use data to inform instruction.
• Support students’ academic, social-emotional, and behavioral growth within the general education setting.
• Participate in IEP meetings, progress reviews, and multidisciplinary team discussions.
• Maintain compliant special education documentation per district/state/federal requirements.
• Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement, independence, and achievement.
