Job summary

Heartbeat-Music- is seeking a Co-Teacher to partner with the Lead Teacher and Site Supervisor in delivering developmentally appropriate curriculum and ensuring smooth classroom operations.

You will supervise children, support routines and learning centers, and assist with observations and family engagement while maintaining compliance with program standards.

Qualifications

• Must possess a valid Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher.
• Must meet all education and experience requirements established for the position.
• Must maintain all required permits, certifications, and training.
• Must complete CPR/First Aid certification and Mandated Reporter training.
• Infant/Toddler coursework requirement as specified.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Site Supervisor in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, classroom activities, small-group instruction, and learning centers.
• Maintain active supervision of children at all times and ensure safety and routines.
• Assist with child observations, documentation, and assessments to support individualized instruction.
• Develop positive relationships with families and assist with conferences and events.
• Collaborate with Lead Teacher and staff to ensure effective classroom operations and compliance.

Position Summary

The Co-Teacher partners with the Lead Teacher and Site Supervisor to provide high-quality instruction, active child supervision, classroom management, assessment support, and family engagement. The Co-Teacher serves as an active instructional partner and assists in maintaining consistent classroom operations, routines, documentation, and regulatory compliance.

The Co-Teacher is expected to provide continuity of classroom instruction and operations within the scope of the Co-Teacher's qualifications and assigned responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Teaching and Learning

• Partner with the Site Supervisor in implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum, classroom activities, small-group instruction, and learning centers.
• Implement established lesson plans and classroom schedules.
• Assist with adapting learning activities based on children's individual developmental needs, abilities, interests, and assessment information.
• Promote an inclusive and culturally responsive learning environment that supports the development of all children.

Child Supervision and Guidance

• Maintain active supervision of children at all times and remain attentive to children's location, activities, and needs.
• Support daily routines, including meals, transitions, outdoor activities, toileting, and rest periods.
• Implement positive and developmentally appropriate behavior guidance strategies.
• Immediately address and report safety, supervision, health, behavioral, or compliance concerns in accordance with program procedures.

Assessment and Documentation

• Assist with child observations, developmental documentation, portfolios, and assessments, including DRDP documentation when applicable.
• Maintain accurate and timely classroom records as assigned.
• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher to use observation and assessment information to support individualized instruction.

Family Engagement

• Develop positive and professional relationships with families.
• Communicate with families regarding classroom activities and children's experiences as assigned.
• Assist with parent conferences, family events, and other engagement activities.

Classroom Operations and Team Collaboration

• Collaborate with the Lead Teacher, Assistant Teachers and other classroom staff to ensure effective classroom coverage and operations.
• Assist with classroom setup, instructional materials, sanitation, health practices, and maintenance of the learning environment.
• Provide classroom continuity and instructional support in the Lead Teacher's absence as assigned.
• Follow all HBMPAA policies, procedures, licensing requirements, and applicable program standards.

General Expectations for All Teaching Positions

All HBMPAA teaching staff are expected to:

• Place the health, safety, supervision, and well-being of children as a primary responsibility.
• Comply with all applicable laws, regulations, licensing requirements, funding requirements, and HBMPAA policies and procedures.
• Maintain required qualifications, permits, certifications, clearances, and training throughout employment.
• Immediately report suspected child abuse or neglect in accordance with mandated reporter requirements.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and confidentiality.
• Attend required meetings, training, professional development, and compliance activities.
• Follow established procedures for documenting and reporting incidents, injuries, safety concerns, supervision concerns, and policy violations.
• Cooperate with licensing reviews, investigations, audits, inspections, and corrective action processes.
• Perform other related duties as assigned based on program and operational needs.

Note: Job duties and assignments may be modified based on program needs, regulatory requirements, funding requirements, licensing standards, or changes in HBMPAA operations. Employees are responsible for maintaining the qualifications applicable to their assigned position and classroom.

Requirements

• Must possess a valid Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher, or other applicable permit required for the assigned position.
• Must meet all education and experience requirements established for the position in accordance with the applicable permit matrix and program requirements.
• Must maintain all required permits, certifications, professional development, and continuing education requirements.
• Must complete and maintain current CPR/First Aid certification and Mandated Reporter training, as required.
• Must satisfy applicable background clearance, health screening, immunization, and other employment or licensing requirements.
• Infant/Toddler Assignment: Must possess a minimum of three (3) semester units of Infant/Toddler coursework when required for assignment to an Infant/Toddler classroom.
