Job summary

Kernal Bio is seeking a highly motivated Co-op to join our LNP team in Boston Seaport. You will help advance next-generation mRNA-LNP therapeutics, contribute to production, formulation, and analytical characterization, and assist with documentation and SOPs.

The role offers hands-on experience across manufacturing functions and collaboration with experienced scientists driving programmable mRNA medicines. On-site work and 35–40 hours/week during the ≥6‑month Co-op.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in a relevant science field and available on-site in Boston Seaport for ≥6 months.
• Familiar with mRNA/LNP unit operations and bench mammalian cell culture.
• At least 6 months of laboratory experience preferred.
• Experience with PCR, cloning, gels, or flow cytometry is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support routine mRNA and LNP production and analytical testing.
• Assist with LNP formulation and optimization, including process development and scale‑up.
• Contribute to antibody-LNP conjugation and analytical characterization workflows.
• Participate in process development and analytical method development for mRNA-LNP products.
• Draft, review, and maintain documentation (SOPs, protocols, batch records).
• Collaborate across teams to ensure data sharing and process execution.
• Maintain precise and organized lab records.
• Maintain human and murine cell lines using sterile technique and proper handling.
