Job summary

MKS Inc. invites you to join our Direct Pressure Engineering group as a Mechanical Engineering co‑op. You will support design, analysis, build and test of capacitance sensors and transducers, reporting to the Sr Mgr, Engineering.

You will gain hands-on experience with prototype design, sensor testing, and data analysis using SolidWorks and COMSOL under senior guidance. Travel up to 10% is required. Begin in January 2027 for a 6-month term.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program in Mechanical Engineering at UMass Lowell.
• Comfortable with using standard hand tools for building electromechanical devices and test systems.
• Proficient in SolidWorks CAD modeling.
• Proficient in Excel, MATLAB, or Python for data processing.
• Familiar with basic electrical testing and debugging methods.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering and production to build prototype designs.
• Diagnose production-related issues with sensor performance.
• Perform mechanical and thermal analyses using SolidWorks or COMSOL (with guidance).
• Test pressure transducers at sensor and system levels.
• Analyze test data and prepare detailed reports.
• Support design and troubleshooting of test systems.
• Design and fabricate test equipment via 3D printing or CNC milling.
