Job summary

General Motors is seeking Electrical Engineer Co-ops for hands-on work focused on control systems and electrical support across multiple plant programs. You will learn to lead electrical projects, assist with operations improvements, and participate in both new and replacement programs.

This role includes direct technical support to maintenance teams and potential relocation considerations. The position emphasizes problem solving, data analysis, and collaborative planning with manufacturing

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • Graduation between December 2027 and June 2030.
  • Able to work full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Enrolled in a co-op program through Kettering University or Rochester Institute of Technology.

Responsibilities

  • Investigates system and equipment problems and provides technical guidance.
  • Performs machine failure root cause analysis.
  • Applies statistical methods for continuous improvement on plant systems.
  • Analyzes process and technology to determine best methods of manufacture.
  • Develops cost estimates and project plans for minor activities.
  • Develops and supervises planning timetables and schedules.
  • Coordinates with area manufacturing engineers on process planning.
  • Supports GMS and Quality Network initiatives.
  • Programs manufacturing technology (PLC, HMI, Robotics).
  • Assists maintenance personnel with operation and maintenance of niche equipment.
