Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

Co‑Occurring Disorder Counselor – independent contractor or full‑time W‑2, delivering outpatient substance‑use and mental‑health treatment across Lighthouse Behavioral Health Center and Community Wellness Outpatient Mental Health Center.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Schedule, facilitate and document individual, family, and group counseling for clients with co‑occurring disorders.
• Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and perform re‑assessments per program timelines.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record (ICANotes).
• Coordinate care with internal and external providers, ensuring compliance with COMAR, CARF, Medicaid and other regulatory standards.
• Install and use agency treatment curriculum while integrating evidence‑based models (CBT, DBT, MI, I‑DID).
• Provide crisis intervention, safety planning and case coordination as needed.
• Attend clinical training, CEU, fidelity reviews, audits and supervision events.

QUALIFICATIONS & LICENSING REQUIREMENTS

• Valid Maryland licensure, options include LCADC, LGADC, CAC‑AD, CSCAD, ADT, LCPC, LGPC, LCSW‑C, LCSW, LMSW, LBSW, LCMFT, LGMF, Psychologist, RPA, CRNP‑PMH, APRN‑PMH, CNS‑PMH, or student‑intern in any of the licensed disciplines.
• Minimum 1–2 years experience working with dual‑diagnosis or high‑acuity populations preferred.
• Background check clearance.
• Familiarity with Medicaid documentation, CARF standards and trauma‑informed care.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.

WORK SCHEDULE & LOCATION

Full‑time, 40 hours per week (4‑5 eight‑hour days). Hours distributed 20 hours with each affiliated organization. Primary delivery sites: community‑based group homes, offices at 1114 E 20th Street and 819 N Fremont Avenue, Baltimore, MD, and 3310 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore, MD. Telehealth available only when the provider or client is on site at an approved location.

COMPENSATION (1099)

Fee‑for‑service per session or client contact. Invoices submitted by Saturday midnight covering Sunday‑Saturday services. Contractor assumes taxes, insurance and liability costs.
