FedWriters, Inc. is seeking an Executive Career Transition Instructor & Coach to co-lead the ASEP transition course for retired U.S. Army General Officers and spouses in Arlington, VA.

This part-time, on-site/ hybrid role runs during scheduled course weeks, with a mix of in-person and virtual sessions across about five week-long courses per year. Collaborate with senior leaders to translate military careers into civilian executive language, provide coaching, resume work, and networking plans,

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in business, management, counseling, or related field or equivalent plus HR/career-Services credential.
• 3+ years leading talent management, recruiting, or counseling for senior officers.
• 3+ years developing and delivering executive-level curriculum.
• 2+ years of public speaking and experience with Army Generals or senior executives.

Responsibilities

• Co-facilitate the ASEP-Transition course for General Officers and spouses.
• Lead breakout sessions on resumes, LinkedIn, networking, mock interviews, and salary negotiation.
• Translate military leadership into civilian executive language for participants.
• Provide one-on-one counseling, resume critiques, and networking-plan reviews.
• Help develop/update executive curriculum and spouse-transition track.
• Step in as lead Instructor when needed to keep courses running.
• Contribute to after-action reviews and course improvements.

Overview

Join our team as an Executive Career Transition Instructor & Coach and support U.S. Army University’s Army Strategic Education Program (ASEP) by co-leading a week-long transition course for retiring U.S. Army General Officers and their spouses. You will co-facilitate executive workshops, coach senior leaders on translating military careers into civilian executive roles, ensure each participant leaves with a polished resume, a working network plan, and a clear path forward.

**Position is contingent upon contract award**

Work Schedule and Location:

On-site/Hybrid: This part-time position is on-site during scheduled course weeks, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET, at a conference facility in Arlington, VA (Washington, DC area). The role supports about five week-long courses per year, roughly three in person and two delivered virtually. It also includes a one-day transition module each February, up to eight half-day executive sessions per year (virtual or at locations within the continental U.S.), and short follow-on coaching sessions by phone or in person.

Responsibilities

• Co-facilitate the ASEP-Transition (ASEP-T) course: a 5-day executive transition course for small cohorts of General Officers and spouses, in person and online.
• Lead breakout-group exercises on resumes, LinkedIn and social media, networking, mock interviews, and salary negotiation.
• Help senior leaders translate military experience and leadership into civilian executive language.
• Provide one-on-one counseling, resume critiques, and networking-plan reviews during the course and in follow-on sessions.
• Help develop and update executive-level curriculum, participant workbooks and a spouse-transition track.
• Step in as lead Instructor when needed to keep every course running without interruption.
• Contribute to after-action reviews and course-improvement recommendations.

Qualifications

Required:

• Military veteran who retired or separated within the last 10 years at the rank of O-4 or above, or as an E-9 (Sergeant Major / Command Sergeant Major).
• Master’s degree in business, management, counseling, or a related field, OR experience plus a recognized industry credential in HR management, career counseling, or career services.
• 3+ years leading talent management, recruiting, or counseling for general officers or senior military executives.
• 3+ years developing and delivering curriculum for executive-level audiences.
• 3+ years working with or for Army Generals, senior military officers, and/or senior civilian executives.
• 2+ years in executive leadership in government or a public or private corporation.
• 2+ years helping Army leaders translate military experience into civilian executive-level terms.
• 2+ years of demonstrated public speaking experience.
• Able to pass a government installation-access background check.

Desired:

• PhD in a related field.
• Teaching citations or awards, service awards, or academic promotions or faculty appointments.
