The Chief Nursing Informatics Officer (CNIO) at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs serves as the primary advisor to inform health informatics leadership and drive standardization of best practices across VA facilities.

Qualifications

• Progressive executive or senior nursing or clinical informatics leadership experience with accountability for clinical programs, policy, and outcomes.
• Experience building and scaling high-performing teams and programs across organizational levels.
• Experience leading workflow redesign or clinical systems optimization in a complex healthcare setting.
• Ability to collaborate with nurse leadership and executive stakeholders to align informatics initiatives with priorities.
• Demonstrated success in change management with measurable outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for Health Informatics Services with staff supervision.
• Lead the design of decision support systems and informatics initiatives across facilities.
• Drive implementation, evaluation, monitoring, and analysis of clinical processes to improve outcomes.
• Foster collaborations across clinical, administrative, and executive stakeholders.
• Support budget planning and resource utilization for informatics programs.
• Promote ethical decision-making and address health equity in informatics practice.
