Job summary

Patterson-UTI in Midland, TX seeks a Level I Field Maintenance Technician to perform essential maintenance, safety tasks, and diagnostics on engine/transmission systems. You will conduct Instrumentation PM, perform light repairs on 12/24 VDC systems, troubleshoot power distribution, damage cables, and read schematics under supervision.

Requirements include a HS diploma or GED, 1 year of experience, valid driver’s license, and willingness to train.

  • Must participate in all company training and meet task list requirements.
  • Requires eligibility to drive company vehicles and perform in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and complete essential functions of Level I Field Maintenance Technicians.
  • Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO).
  • Troubleshoot power distribution, cable and sensor systems, read schematics.
  • Repair 12 and 24 VDC systems with light supervision and assist in upgrades.
  • Read control software/navigation and support installation of upgrades.
  • Work under supervision and coordinate with other technicians as needed.

Key Accountabilities


  • Perform and complete all essential functions required of Level I Field Maintenance Technicians

  • Able to Perform Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO)

  • Knowledge of Engine/Transmission Diagnostic Software

  • Perform Instrumentation PM with light supervision

  • Perform emergency repairs with light supervision

  • Repair and maintain 12 and 24 vdc systems with light supervision.

  • Knowledge to troubleshoot complete power distribution systems

  • Possess general knowledge of cable building and able to repair damaged cable

  • Knowledge of procedures and calibration software /adapters and are able to replace and calibrate all sensors

  • Knowledge of troubleshooting of all sensors

  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and are able to replace hydraulic and pneumatic components with supervision

  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic schematics

  • Knowledge of control systems and ability to read schematics

  • Knowledge of engine/transmission electronics and able to read schematics.

  • Knowledge of networks and equipment and are able to troubleshoot network and equipment problems.

  • Able to replace network and equipment components and are able to read network schematics

  • General knowledge of navigation through control software

  • Knowledge of upgrade installation and are able to assist in installation of upgrades.

Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities


  • Ability to read, write and speak English to the extent that they are able to understand verbal and written instructions as well as give verbal and written instructions in English; and the ability to use simple mathematical calculations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals (addition, subtraction, division and multiplication) to make job related calculations.

  • Must participate in all company provided training.

  • Must meet Competency Task List requirements for job role and complete Equipment Maintenance Task List.

  • Requires maintained eligibility to drive company vehicles.

  • Performs work on his/her own as well as provides assistance to other employees as directed.

  • Perform all duties in compliance with Customer and Company policies and procedures and applicable regulations.


Minimum Required Education


  • H.S. Diploma or G.E.D. - Required

  • Associate's Degree - Preferred

Licenses and Certifications


  • Valid Driver's License - Required

  • Commercial Driver's License - Preferred


Language Comprehension
