Job summary

EMI Industries in Cranston, RI, seeks a Machine Operator to set up and operate CNC routers, edge banders, and saws for wood and panel components. You will read blueprints, interpret job travelers, and ensure parts meet specifications while maintaining quality and safety on a busy shop floor.

The role requires experience with woodworking equipment, ability to read technical drawings, and strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

Experience operating CNC equipment, edge banders, or panel/table saws in woodworking/manufacturing.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, cut lists, and job travelers.
Basic math skills for measurements and simple calculations.
Mechanical aptitude for setup, adjustment, and troubleshooting.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate CNC routers/machining centers; load programs, set offsets, install tooling.
Set up and operate edge banding equipment for proper adhesion and finish quality.
Set up and operate table saws to cut wood/panel stock to spec.
Read and interpret travelers, blueprints, CAD/CNC files to determine setup and sequence.
Inspect finished parts with calipers and tape measures for dimensional accuracy.
Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot issues (changing bits, clearing jams, cleaning dust collection).
Maintain production records including quantities, scrap, and downtime.
Follow safety procedures and use PPE on the shop floor.
Keep work area clean and organized; store materials and tooling properly.
Coordinate with Production Planning and Supervisors on sequencing and material flow.
Support continuous improvement to reduce scrap and improve setup times.
