Job summary

ARCH Cutting Tools - Rhode Island is seeking an experienced machinist to plan and execute precision machining tasks using mills and lathes in a production environment. You will study orders, blueprints, and specifications to set up and run parts with tight GD&T tolerances.

The role requires interpreting tolerances, planning stock requirements, and maintaining quality logs while updating knowledge through ongoing technical publications and training opportunities.

Qualifications

• Plan machining by reviewing work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters.
• Interpret geometric dimensions and tolerances.
• Plan stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available.
• Anticipates needed stock.
• Places and expedites orders for stock, verifying receipt of stock.
• Programs mills and lathes by entering instructions, including zeros and reference points
• Sets tool registers, offsets, compensations, and conditional switches
• Calculates requirements including basic math and adjusting three and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.
• Loads machine by lifting stock into position.
• Verifies setting by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to standards
• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations
• Take measurements
• Detecting malfunctions
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading technical publications
