Job summary

Sterling Engineering, Inc. in Dallas, TX seeks an experienced CNC Turret Setup Operator for a contract-to-hire role. You will set up and operate Amada CNC Turret Punch Press machines, load programs, verify tooling, and ensure dimensional accuracy throughout production.

Ideal candidates read blueprints, interpret work orders, and troubleshoot tooling or machine issues to minimize downtime, while maintaining a safe, efficient work environment in a fast-paced shop.

Qualifications

• Previous experience setting up and operating CNC Turret Punch Press machines.
• Experience with Amada turret equipment is strongly preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and technical drawings.
• Experience selecting, installing, and aligning turret tooling.
• Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes.
• Mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting skills.
• Commitment to producing high-quality parts while meeting production goals.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate Amada CNC Turret Punch Press machines.
• Retrieve, load, and verify CNC programs before production.
• Set up and install the correct tooling based on program requirements.
• Verify tool placement and machine setup prior to production runs.
• Load and stage raw materials for production.
• Monitor machine operation to ensure tooling and material remain aligned.
• Inspect parts for dimensional accuracy and overall quality.
• Troubleshoot setup, tooling, and machine issues to minimize downtime.
• Perform routine machine maintenance and maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Work closely with engineering and production teams to support efficient manufacturing.
