Job summary

Spherion Staffing, LLC is seeking a Tooling Technician for a leading medical device manufacturer in Dayton, OH. The role supports high-precision CNC tooling, inventory control, and seamless production across a state-of-the-art facility.

You will prep and assemble tooling, inspect for wear, manage tool usage and vendor coordination, and help optimize costs while adhering to safety policies and PPE requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience in CNC machining environments.
• Familiarity with tool holders, inserts, drills, end mills, taps, and precision measuring equipment.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to lift up to 35 pounds and stand/walk in a manufacturing facility.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assemble tooling: preset, measure, and verify cutting tools to precise specs using presetting equipment and calibrated tools.
• Maintain and inspect tooling for wear or damage; coordinate tool regrinding and repair.
• Manage and track tool usage and inventory; issue tool requisitions; coordinate with vendors to prevent shortages.
• Support and optimize: issue tools to CNC cells, assist with machine changeovers, identify cost-reduction opportunities.
• Ensure and maintain safety: follow PPE requirements and keep a clean, organized tool crib.
