Job summary

VERSA is seeking a versatile CNC Tooling Coordinator / Operator / Maintenance Technician to join the Machine Shop. This hands-on role blends tooling coordination, CNC work, and maintenance support to keep production efficient in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will read blueprints, select and verify tooling, perform inspections, and assist with preventive maintenance and installs. Strong detail orientation and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Demonstrate basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Possess basic computer proficiency for shop software and data entry.
• Knowledge of precision measuring instruments and gauging.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC milling machines and other machine shop equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, sketches, and work instructions.
• Select, install, verify, and adjust tooling for production jobs.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
• Build and preset tooling assemblies using a Parlec presetter.
• Maintain tooling inventory, organization, and storage.
• Deliver tooling to machining centers to support production schedules.
• Assist with preventative maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, repairs, and machine installations.
• Report machine, tooling, and production issues to supervision.
• Follow quality, safety, and 5S standards.
• Assist other departments as needed to support manufacturing operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The CNC Tooling Coordinator / Operator / Maintenance Technician supports the daily operations of the Machine Shop by performing a combination of tooling, CNC machining, and maintenance support responsibilities. This role prepares and maintains tooling, operates CNC equipment as needed to support production, and assists with preventative maintenance and equipment repairs. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and enjoys supporting multiple functions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate CNC milling machines and other machine shop equipment.
• Read and interpret blueprints, process sheets, sketches, and work instructions.
• Select, install, verify, and adjust tooling for production jobs.
• Perform first-piece and in-process inspections to ensure parts meet specifications.
• Build and preset tooling assemblies using a Parlec presetter.
• Maintain tooling inventory, including organization, inspection, and storage.
• Maintain a clean, organized tool crib and work area.
• Deliver tooling to machining centers to support production schedules.
• Assist with preventative maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, repairs, and machine installations.
• Report machine, tooling, and production issues to supervision.
• Follow all quality, safety, and 5S workplace organization standards.
• Assist other departments as needed to support manufacturing operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and manufacturing drawings.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Knowledge of precision measuring instruments.
• Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred

• Previous experience in manufacturing, CNC machining, tooling, machine maintenance, or a related field.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and move throughout the workday.
• Ability to safely work around industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment.
