Job summary

Reliance, Inc. in New Berlin, WI is seeking an experienced machinist to set up, adjust, and operate a variety of machine tools to meet tight tolerances and finish requirements.

You will work with CNC machining centers, milling machines, drill presses, band saws, and lathes, ensuring accurate and high-quality parts. This on-site role requires manual dexterity, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and production procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience with CNC machining centers and precision measurement tools.
• Ability to read and interpret basic inspection references.

Responsibilities

• Layout and check work from drawings and specs.
• Hold tight tolerances to ensure part accuracy.
• Sharpen and maintain press tooling; setup dies with correct clearance.
• Determine quality using calipers, micrometers, scales and gauges.
• Follow schedule to prepare tooling for production runs.
• Write purchase orders for punches, drills and tooling for tool room.
• Collaborate with shift supervisors and operators on tool setups.
• Maintain tool room equipment and keep areas clean.

Set up, adjust and operate a variety of machine tools to perform machining operations on work having close tolerance and finish requirements.

Machines include CNC machining center, program CNC machining center, (for editing), milling machines, drill press, metal cutting band saws and machine lathes

Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Job Function

• Layout and check work. Work from drawings and specifications in English, metric, fractional and decimal dimensions.
• Hold exacting tolerances.
• Sharpen and maintain press tooling. Setup dies with correct punch to die clearance stripper to die clearance.
• Determine and maintain quality using calipers, micrometers and scales.
• Follow instructions from the production scheduler and/or shift supervisor so tooling is ready for production runs.
• Write up purchase orders for punches, drills, tooling, etc., for tool room operations.Work with shift supervisors, lead people and production operators with technical support on tool and press setups, shear setups and slitter setups.
• Could operate as a lead person in this area.
• Maintain tool room machining and grinding equipment, maintain tooling transport equipment.
• Keep work areas clean and swept up.
• Maintain a clean and neat work environment.

Required Skills

• Experience on CNC machining centers, personal measuring equipment.
• Micrometer, calipers, machinist squares and scales and basic tools.

Compensation: $22-$30 per hour.
