Job summary

Silgan Containers Mfg Corp in Edison, NJ is seeking a skilled Machinist – Tool & Die to operate and maintain CNC grinders, lathes, and mills in a fast-paced metal can manufacturing environment.

You will read blueprints, measure parts, troubleshoot gearboxes and pumps, refurbish tooling, and follow strict safety procedures. 2+ years of machining experience and a high school diploma are required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in manufacturing or machining.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain CNC grinders, lathes, Bridgeport mills, welders, plasma cutters
• Perform tool and die machining using blueprints and precision measuring instruments
• Troubleshoot and repair gearboxes, pumps, and production equipment
• Refurbish and rebuild tooling for can-making machinery
• Measure and calculate raw material requirements
• Catalog and organize production tooling for efficiency
• Perform quality checks and ensure compliance with strict manufacturing tolerances
• Follow lockout/tagout safety procedures
• Operate plant equipment such as forklifts, lifts, and booms
