Job summary

Bird Johnson, a Fairbanks Morse Defense Company, seeks a skilled CNC Technical Lead to oversee daily machining floor operations and bridge engineering with production. You will translate CAD/CAM designs into robust, repeatable processes while mentoring machinists and safeguarding quality, safety, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of hands-on CNC machining experience, including at least 2+ years in a lead, supervisory, or senior setup role.
• Ability to obtain and maintain the required DOD security clearance.
• Advanced understanding of G-code/M-code programming and manual editing at the control.
• Proficiency in interpreting complex engineering blueprints and applying GD&T.
• Extensive experience with multi-axis milling and turning and with tooling/fixturing.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM software such as NX, Mastercam, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360.
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily CNC operations and mentor machinists on setups, tool selections, and optimization.
• Translate CAD/CAM designs into efficient, repeatable production processes.
• Identify opportunities to improve cycle times, tooling, fixtures, and machining strategies.
• Troubleshoot on the shop floor and resolve machine alarms and dimensional issues.
• Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing Engineers on DFM, tool path refinement, and post-processing.
