Job summary

Hirsh Precision is seeking a mid-level CNC Lathe Machinist to own end-to-end setups on CNC and Swiss lathes, read complex prints with GD&T, and verify first articles.

You will select tooling, monitor cycle times, capture accurate production data, troubleshoot issues, and mentor entry-level machinists while contributing to lean projects in a fast-paced environment in Colorado.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of machining/CNC experience or equivalent capability.
• Independent CNC setup and operation skills.
• Blueprint + GD&T fluency.
• Precision measurement and hand metrology proficiency.
• Reliable, punctual attendance.
• High school diploma or GED (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end setups on CNC and Swiss lathes: program load/verify, offsets, dry runs, and first-article confirmation.
• Select and maintain tooling, fixtures, and workholding to reduce setup time and variation.
• Run multiple machines when appropriate to meet plan.
• Monitor cycle times, adjust feeds/speeds, and optimize utilization.
• Capture accurate setup, downtime, and production data.
• Read complex prints with GD&T; validate parts using micrometers, indicators, bore/height gauges, CMM, and more.
• Minimize scrap and rework; escalate nonconformances and support corrective actions.
• Troubleshoot tooling wear, chatter, workholding, or capability issues; recommend process and tooling improvements.
• Participate in lean events and continuous improvement projects.
