Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to setup and operate Lathe and Milling cells, optimize tooling and tooling life, and collaborate with engineering on new tooling. The role emphasizes training, documentation, and process improvements across shifts.

The candidate should have a CAM/CNC programming diploma or 10+ years’ experience, with strong knowledge of Turning, Boring, Milling, Drilling, and Tapping cycles, and be able to work flexible shifts to support all production stages.

  • In-depth understanding of Turning, Boring, Milling, Drilling and Tapping cycles.
  • CNC machine operating, programming and process development.
  • Good behavior, team player, good communicator.
  • Ability to work flexible schedule to support all shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines for Lathe or Milling cells as scheduled.
  • Create or edit CNC programs to optimize machine utilization, tooling, product quality, and setup times.
  • Set up and run Lathes or Mills as directed by the supervisor.
  • Complete and maintain CNC program documentation.
  • Warm up machines early and top up coolants/oils, reporting issues to supervisor.
  • Stay 30 minutes into the afternoon shift to assist with training or setup issues.
  • Handle after-hours support calls for the afternoon shift until 7 p.m.
  • Identify cost-reduction opportunities, optimize tool life, and tooling arrangements.
  • Train employees on new processes and new hires.
  • Manage consumable tooling stock levels and remove obsolete tools from inventory with Production Manager.
  • Link engineering and production and maintain communication with shop personnel.
  • Enhance older programs with improved tooling to machine parts faster.
  • Lead development and maintenance of part-specific tooling lists.
  • Work with Engineering on First Article parts and new tooling.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives.

Job description

  • Setup and operate CNC machines by following appropriate schedules for Lathe or Milling cells.
  • Create or edit efficient CNC programs to optimize machine utilization, tooling arrangements, product quality, and setup times.
  • Set up and run Lathes or Mills as directed by the supervisor.
  • Complete and maintain CNC program documentation.
  • Warm up machines 30 minutes early each day and top up coolants/oils, reporting deficiencies to the Supervisor.
  • Stay 30 minutes into the afternoon shift to assist with training or setup issues.
  • Take after-hours support calls for the afternoon shift until 7 p.m.

Requirements
