Job summary

Electric Supply & Equipment in North Carolina is seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up and operate computer-controlled machines, following blueprints and specifications. The role requires attention to detail, ability to read CAD files, and safe handling of tooling in a warehouse environment.

You'll mount tools, adjust speeds, monitor readings, and perform quality checks, with responsibilities spanning programming adjustments and packing panels for delivery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• 1–3 years in a similar capacity.
• Valid North Carolina driver’s license with no major violations in the last 3 years.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of machine tools and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines per specifications and blueprints.
• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
• Transfer commands to CNC modules and load programs.
• Check lubrication, cooling, and tool wear during operation.
• Monitor readings and adjust feed/ speed to maintain tolerances.
• Enter commands and modify programs to address issues.
• Lift and stage heavy pieces safely in warehouse areas.
• Prepare panels for delivery and keep work areas clean.

*** The hours for this position will be Monday-Friday, 3:00pm - midnight. ***

PURPOSE: Set up and operate computer-controlled machines to perform one or more machine functions on metal workpieces.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review program specifications or blueprints to determine and set machine operations and sequencing, finished workpiece dimensions, or numerical control sequences.
• Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and workpieces on machines, using hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
• Transfer commands from servers to computer numerical control (CNC) modules, using computer network links.
• Insert control instructions into machine control units to start operation.
• Check to ensure that workpieces are properly lubricated and cooled during machine operation.
• Listen to machines during operation to detect sounds such as those made by dull cutting tools or excessive vibration and adjust machines to compensate for problems.
• Remove and replace dull cutting tools.
• Monitor machine operation and control panel displays and compare readings to specification to detect malfunctions.
• Enter commands or load control media to retrieve programmed instructions. Modify cutting programs to account for problems encounter during operation.
• Adjust machine feed and speed, change cutting tools, or adjust machine controls when automatic programming is faulty or if machines malfunction.
• Lift workpieces manually or with gantry crane and safely stage in warehouse area.
• Implement changes to machine programs and enter new specifications, using computers
• Set up future jobs
• Work in business system to enter orders and ship material.

• Keep machine clean and area free of debris and work hazards.
• Conduct tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
• Package and prepare panels for delivery to customers
• Comply with all company policies and safety procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Experience with modification machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
• Familiarity with CAD software. Ares Commander is preferred but Autocad or similar software is acceptable.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Experience using mathematical principles and geometry.
• Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming.
• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
• The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer) and the ability to detect or tell the differences between sounds that vary in pitch and loudness.
• Must be computer literate and have the manual dexterity to perform data entry quickly and accurately.
• Must be able to use company computer system and appropriate software such as Trend and GUI.
• Forklift certification. (Certification may be acquired after hire)
• Education: Minimum Level: High School Diploma.
• Experience: Minimum Amount: One to three years in similar capacity.
• Must maintain a valid North Carolina Drivers License with no major traffic violations within the last three years.
• Position works in warehouse and office area throughout the day. This requires mobility and flexibility to stand, walk, bend, stoop, reach and sit throughout the day. Position routinely lifts items as heavy as 50 lbs.
