Job summary

Jobot is seeking a CNC Setup / Run Machinist in Inglewood, CA to set up and run 2.5 to 3 axis CNC machines—Haas or Fadal—producing aerospace components. The role involves working with programmers, selecting cutters, and optimizing tooling life to achieve First Article quality.

Candidates should have at least 4 years’ experience and be able to read prints, edit programs as needed, and assist with fixtures and inspections. On-site, hourly compensation ranges with experience, and room for growth.

Qualifications

• 4 years' experience in each of the following:
• Setup and run for (2.5 to 3 axis) CNC VMC Mills
• Light program editing capability
• Support other staff with setups and assistance during manufacturing operations
• Follow /modify operational instructions based on CNC manufacturing procedure and necessary inspection plans

Job description: We are looking for a CNC Setup / Run Machinist. The Machinist shall have experience operating either Haas, Fadal or comparable VMC machine tools. Experience with manual machines a plus. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Machinist will setup and run 2.5 to 3 axis CNC machines to produce mid to high complexity aerospace components. The Machinist will work with programmers to run CNC programs, select cutters, maximize tooling/cutter life, follow setup documentation, and help fabricate fixtures and tooling. Must have experience working with precision parts (Tolerances can be under .001" including GD&M&T features such as position, flatness, and parallelism).

REQUIRED SKILLS

4 years' experience in each of the following:

• Setup and run for (2.5 to 3 axis) CNC VMC Mills
• Ability to operate and or take print and part program, run, inspect and produce a good First article per print, manufacturing outline, and customer instructions
• Light program editing capability
• Support other staff with setups and assistance during manufacturing operations
• Follow /modify operational instructions based on CNC manufacturing procedure and necessary inspection plans

ADDITIONAL SKILLS

• Inspection using tools such as micrometers, height gage, calipers and CMM
• Use and operate safely all appropriate hand tools and other machinery associated with the machine shop
• Ability to professionally communicate and work cooperatively with others
• MUST be flexible. Priorities can change often. Position requires additional of tasks including cleaning, deburring, and assembly
• Willingness to learn new responsibilities (including programming training) and train others when requested

COMPUTER SKILLS

• Experience working in a Windows environment
• Experience with CAD/CAM systems a plus

OTHER

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate

• Ability to lift 25 lbs. unassisted, repetitive movement, bending or twisting, using hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls, exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting, exposure to typical shop chemicals (coolant, solvents, cleaners) are generally required to perform the functions of this position
• Regular attendance and positive attitude required. Must be able to work all required shift hours, overtime and (in rare cases) weekends.
