Job summary

TE Connectivity is seeking a CNC Setup Machinist (Lathes) for the 1st shift in Grayslake, IL. You will program, set up, and operate CNC lathe machines to fabricate parts per customer specs, with emphasis on quality and efficiency.

Applicants should have 5 years of hands-on CNC lathe experience, CNC certification or training, and familiarity with blueprints and BOMs. Fanuc controls are preferred. This is a full-time on-site role with competitive pay and benefits.

  • Program, set up and operate CNC lathe machines per specifications.

  • Maintain safety and clean, orderly work area.

Job Overview

Program, set up and operate various CNC (computer numerical control) lathe machines in order to fabricate products according to the customers’ specifications.

CNC Certification or CNC Training & 5 Years hands onExperience Required!!

Job Requirements
  • Read and interpret blueprints and BOM to determine complex setup procedures, tooling, settings and sequences.
  • Choose, align, and mount fixtures, tools, attachments, accessories or other materials to the machine.
  • Program and edit multiple CNC lathe machines by entering commands so the machines perform the correct functions.
  • Prepare and load materials onto the machine.
  • Operate and monitor machine, check coolant and oil levels, fill as needed.
  • Work closely with the Quality Control Department to conduct inspections during the production process and verify products meets specifications.
  • Maintain productivity at levels that match or exceed production standards.
  • Communicate with Production Cell Supervisor on all issues related to discrepancies on drawing or BOM.
  • Work with Maintenance department on performing or scheduling routine maintenance.
  • Follow safety rules and use safe procedures.
  • Keep all tools and supplies put away in the appropriate location on a daily basis and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What your background should look like
  • High School diploma or GED Preferred.
  • Certification or additional CNC training is required.
  • 5 years of hands-on experience operating and setting up CNC lathe machines
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret complex blueprints, mechanical drawings and other written material.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc controls are preferred.
  • Full understanding of machining tools, drills, tap, bores, etc.
  • Mechanical aptitude with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Mathematically literate.
  • Effectively communicate. Must be able to Read, Write and Speak English.
  • Knowledge of various types of equipment and processes such as:
  • Air and power tools
  • Micrometers, calipers, rulers, tape measures and gages
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task.

Physical Requirements:

  • Continuous standing, moving and reaching with arms and hand.
  • Frequently walks, bends, lifts and carries items.
  • Occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Work performed in a shop environment.
  • Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, and odors.

Compensation
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $35.00 to $38.00/Hour (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
