Job summary

Carolinas Staffing in Leland, NC is seeking Setup Machinists to perform medium‑complexity machine setups. You will load parts per the Manufacturing plan, monitor tooling wear, inspect parts with precision gauges, and ensure GD&T call-outs are met.

Requires two years in production or job shop environments and proficiency with four- and five-axis machining. Shifts include 1st, 2nd, and weekend scheduling with varying hours.

Qualifications

• Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T call-outs.

Responsibilities

• Set up machines for medium complexity parts.
• Load parts per Manufacturing plan or Product Specifications.
• Monitor tooling wear and change tools as required.
• Inspect parts with calipers, mics, height gauges, pins, etc.
• Perform setups on production parts (non-CFA, FA or SCR jobs).
• Submit passing internal first article to QA after setup.
• Follow shop paper procedures and document changes.
• Read and interpret blueprint call outs.
• Apply GD&T to achieve print call-outs during setup.

Job description

Carolinas Staffing is looking for Setup Machinists in Leland, NC!

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

• Must be familiar with the machine controls and be able to perform setups of medium complexity.
• Load parts (Ability to load and run parts per Manufacturing plan or Product Specifications)
• Monitor tooling wear and changing tools as required per tool life monitoring.
• Inspect parts with mechanical gauges (calipers, mics, height gauges, pins, etc.)
• Perform setups on production parts (non-CFA, FA or SCR jobs)
• Perform tool and offset changes during setup in-order to submit a passing internal first article to QA
• Responsible for utilizing shop paper procedure including updates, signatures, and stamps, counting quantities, labeling and non-conformance related activities
• Able to read all and understand all blueprint call outs.
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T – Understand relationship to Print, Program and Set up to achieve GD&T call outs.

Requirements:

• Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
• Two years’ experience either in a production or job shop environment.
• Must be very well versed in four and five axis machining.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, push, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
• Frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• Must have experience with CNC machines

Pay: Depending on experience.
Hours/Shifts:

1 st shift - Monday to Thursday, 10 hours per day, 6 am to 4:30 pm

2 nd shift – Monday to Thursday, 10 hours per day, 4 pm to 2:30 am

Weekend – Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 12 hours per day, 6 am to 6 pm (two lunch breaks paid)
