Job summary

Connectronics in Edinburgh, IN is seeking a Lead Swiss CNC Setup & Manufacturing Specialist. You will set up, program, operate, and optimize Swiss-style CNC lathes, mills, and machining centers, developing robust processes for RF connectors and related interconnect products used in aerospace, defense and space applications.

The role requires reading blueprints and GD&T, strong problem-solving and teamwork. You will train operators, participate in continuous improvement, and ensure safety,

Qualifications

  • Experience with Swiss CNC machines and CNC milling is preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints and interpret GD&T requirements.
  • Knowledge of aerospace, defense and high-reliability manufacturing practices.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, program, operate, and optimize Swiss-style CNC lathes and mills.
  • Develop and improve machining processes for RF connectors and interconnects.
  • Select tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and quality issues.
  • Support prototype, development, and production work for aerospace/defense customers.
  • Maintain process documentation, setup sheets, tooling records, and standards.
  • Train operators and participate in continuous improvement and cost reduction.

General Description

The Lead Swiss CNC Setup & Manufacturing Specialist is responsible for the setup, programming, operation, troubleshooting, and process optimization of Swiss-style CNC lathes, CNC milling machines, and machining centers used in the manufacture of precision RF connectors, contacts, shells, cable assembly components, and related interconnect products for aerospace, defense, military, space, telecommunications, and other high-reliability applications. This position develops and maintains robust machining processes capable of meeting stringent dimensional, surface finish, quality, and traceability requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up, program, operate, and optimize Swiss-style CNC lathes, CNC mills, and machining centers.
  • Develop and improve machining processes for RF connector and interconnect products.
  • Select tooling, fixtures, collets, inserts, and workholding solutions.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, programming, and quality issues.
  • Support prototype, development, and production work for aerospace and defense customers.
  • Maintain process documentation, setup sheets, tooling records, and manufacturing standards.
  • Train and support operators and less-experienced machinists.
  • Participate in continuous improvement, cost reduction, and efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements, quality standards, and traceability requirements.
  • Support ISO 9001, AS9100, corrective actions, preventive actions, and audit activities.

Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements/Education

  • Experience with Swiss CNC machines, CNC milling machines, and machining centers preferred.
  • Experience machining precision RF connector components preferred.
  • Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements.
  • Knowledge of aerospace, defense, military, AS9100, ISO 9001, and high-reliability manufacturing practices preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving ability.
  • Willingness to learn, accept coaching, and participate in company‑provided training programs.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented manufacturing environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training preferred.
  • Ability to read simple technical instructions and accomplish simple arithmetic operations. Must be able to read, write and speak English.
