Job summary

Emerson’s Elyria, OH facility seeks a skilled CNC Setup Technician to set up and adjust tooling on CNC equipment. You’ll perform part inspection, tool changes, and interpret CMM reports while maintaining 6S standards and routine maintenance.

The role blends setup, coordination, and leadership on the shop floor, with flexibility to transition into operator tasks as needed. You will champion safety, quality, and teamwork, train operators, and help drive continuous improvement across shifts.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 3 years hands-on CNC setup experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain certification to operate powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks).
• Proven shop math skills and computer literate.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T.
• Experience using precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges).
• Ability to change tools, touch off tools, and home out the machine to ensure accurate setup.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with a focus on resolving operator issues quickly and effectively.
• Excellent communication skills to provide training and clear instructions to operators.
• Actively progressing in qualifications through hands-on experience, mentorship, and formal training—demonstrates initiative in mastering advanced tasks and responsibilities
• Legal Authorization to work in the United States – sponsorship will not be provided for this role

Responsibilities

• Lead on the shop floor as the supervisor’s right-hand partner on production flow and accountability.
• Set attendance, safety, quality, and work-ethic standards; remove production barriers and promote ownership and continuous improvement.
• Step in as an operator when required to support team and customer demand.
• Provide training and clear instructions to operators and act as a mentor on the floor.
• Maintain a team-first mindset and actively engage in daily production to keep lines running smoothly.
