Job summary

Staffmark Group in Buffalo Grove, IL is seeking a CNC Machine Set Up Operator to program, set up, and operate CNC equipment for quality components. You will read blueprints, GD&T, and perform light edits while maintaining safety and efficiency.

This position offers a daytime, Monday–Friday schedule (7:30 AM–3:30 PM) with potential for a second shift, and a pay rate of $31.00–$33.00 per hour depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, or 6-12 months related experience.
• Proficient in reading blueprints, engineering plans, and GD&T.
• Ability to operate multiple types of CNC machines and equipment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Basic math, geometry, and simple trigonometry skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Commitment to safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate VMCs, HMCs, TMCs, CO2 lasers, fiber lasers, break presses, and/or robotic welders.
• Perform light program edits on mills, lathes, lasers, or robotic welders, including tool offsets, reference points, and conditional switches.
• Maintain quality by observing drilling, cutting, turning, facing, knurling, and thread chasing operations.
• Troubleshoot processes, detect malfunctions, and replace or sharpen worn tools
• Plan machining by interpreting work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, and GD&T specifications.
• Verify machine settings and first-run parts using precision measuring tools like micrometers and calipers.
• Document production and quality activities to maintain continuity across shifts.
• Perform preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Follow safety procedures, maintain good housekeeping, and uphold 5S standards.
• Participate in ongoing learning to stay updated on technical publications and new machining techniques
