Job summary

Shields Manufacturing in Tualatin, Oregon, is seeking a Router Operator for on-site work with day and swing shifts. You will set up CNC router jobs, verify tolerances, and ensure conformance to customer blueprints.

The role emphasizes precise measurement, fixturing, and collaboration with production teams. Under limited supervision, you will define measurements, work with tooling and setup, and contribute to continuous improvement of cycle times and processes.

Qualifications

• Vocational training or equivalent experience in metal fabrication or machining.
• Some experience operating CNC router equipment is a plus.
• Proficiency with calipers, gauge blocks, micrometers, height/depth gauges.
• Strong understanding of blueprints and GD&T.
• Good communication, both verbal and written.
• Familiarity with shop floor control software.
• Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate CNC router to produce parts per customer blueprints.
• Machine parts to exact specifications from drawings.
• Design and manufacture fixturing for production runs.
• Assist setup, tooling, and troubleshooting with other operators.
• Aim to improve cycle times, processes, setup, and tooling.
• Provide input on machine run times, fixturing, and tooling needs.
• Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearance of finished parts.
• Develop programs for machines using Mastercam when needed.
• Collaborate with NPI teams to refine manufacturing methods.
