Job summary

Berry Metal Company is seeking a CNC Programming Specialist to focus on creating and optimizing programs for 3-axis mills and 2-axis lathes, aiming to improve manufacturing efficiency and output quality.

The ideal candidate will work with machinists and engineering teams to develop workholding solutions, verify programs against drawings, and help drive tooling optimization and process improvements on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineer or CNC Programming role.
• Ability to interpret, verify, and edit G&M Code.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.

Position Summary

We are seeking a CNC Programming Specialist that will focus on creating and optimizing programs for 3-axis mills and 2-axis lathes with a focus on manufacturing efficiency, production workflows, and ensuring high-quality output.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Create set up sheets and programs for 2-axis lathes and 3-axis mills.
• Work with machinists and engineering teams to develop work holding solutions.
• Verify existing programs against current engineering drawings to ensure revision compliance while continuously evaluating programs to reduce run times and increase machine production.
• Assist the CNC Programming Manager in creating 5-axis set up sheets, machine production/maintenance procedures, and programs.
• Establish and maintain tooling inventory levels and identify opportunities for tooling upgrades.
• Train and support production staff on new technologies and process improvements.
• Assist in the development of job routings and provide input for quoting estimated machine hours.
• Analyze existing job routing structures and recommend improvements for efficiency and cost reduction.
• Collaborate with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve routing-related issues.
• Assist with training of new machine operators as needed.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in a Manufacturing Engineer or CNC Programming role.
• A proven track record of CNC programming and machine shop process improvement.
• Ability to interpret, verify, and edit G&M Code
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and CAD models.
• Familiarity with ERP systems for production planning and control.
• Excellent communication, project management and problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset.

Experience with

• Mastercam lathe and 3-axis mill modules/ 5-axis experience is a plus
• Hands on machine experience
• Haas, Mazak, vertical turning lathes, horizontal and vertical mills, etc.
• Understanding of conversational programming

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Will frequently sit at a desk, stand and walk for prolonged periods on concrete. Must have the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs. Must be able to wear appropriate PPE.
