Job summary

TRUMPF Inc. in Farmington, CT, seeks an intern for the Sheetmetal Fabrication Department to gain practical experience aligned with university studies and TRUMPF standards. This onsite position requires active enrollment in an accredited program and the ability to contribute to manufacturing processes.

Qualifications

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work as a team player.
• Must be a student enrolled in an accredited university pursuing an undergraduate degree in a related field.

Responsibilities

• Dynamically nest for the laser cut machine and the combination machine.
• Analyze engineering detail drawings for standardization, material, heat treatment and elements of design in relation to programming and applying standard data for times for NC/CNC machines.
• Specify definite pattern on a program sheet for the way a part will be machined.
• Develop necessary instruction information and drawings indicating where to place the workpiece on the machine and how to hold it.
• Design fixtures to manufacture production and customer parts.
• Assist other persons to ensure the programming time, tape punching and programming is correct.
• Create routings according to TRUMPF standards.
• Make manual changes to machine code.
• Assure the actual setup, cycle and secondary times are reflected properly in the SAP routing.
• Operate machining center when operators are absent
