Job summary

Hutchinson Industries, Inc. in Buffalo, NY is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer & Setup Operator to create CNC programs and set up production runs.

The goal is to shorten cycle times while maintaining part quality and safety, including running first pieces and training production staff for larger orders. The ideal candidate has substantial CNC programming and operation experience, understands mill and lathe tooling, and demonstrates strong attention to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and familiarity with shop tools.
• Proven mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic skills.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds and work with manual machining equipment.
• Demonstrated maintenance and troubleshooting skills.
• CNC mill/lathe experience required; training or certification in CNC programming preferred.
• Excellent attention to detail for creating CNC programs.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

Salary Range: $28.00 To $35.00 Annually

General Description

• Create new CNC programs for production with the goal of making the program as short a cycle time as possible while still producing a quality part that is safe for production to run. They are responsible for troubleshooting issues with the CNC equipment and modifying the tooling and programming as needed. They will run the first piece samples and machine small orders while training production on how to successfully run larger orders.

Specific Duties

• Create new CNC Programs for production.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and repair all process and plant equipment as necessary.
• Complete required records for work performed.
• Participate in developing and updating risk assessments and review all applicable risk assessments annually.
• Participate in developing and updating risk assessments and review all applicable risk assessments annually.
• Follow all applicable environmental, health and safety rules and procedures and immediately report all dangerous situations, near-misses, and injuries.
• Complete fixture changes.
• Run and inspect first piece of run. Work with Quality to document first piece inspection.
• Modify fixtures as required.
• Cross-training with maintenance on manual machining (lathe & mill).

• Minimum 5 years of experience with CNC operation and CNC programming preferred.
• Previous training or certification on creating CNC programming is required.
• Excellent attention to detail needed for creating new CNC programs.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
