Job summary

SmartLam North America in Columbia Falls, MT is seeking a CNC Programmer to translate engineering drawings and CAD/CAM models into CNC programs for wood manufacturing. Develop, test, and optimize programs to support safe, efficient production of wood panels and components.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent; CNC-focused training preferred.
• 2–5 years of CNC programming/operation/setup experience.
• Wood manufacturing or panel processing experience preferred.
• Proficiency with CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, AutoCAD, SolidWorks.
• Working knowledge of G-code, feeds and speeds, tooling, nesting, and machine sequencing.
• Ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings.
• Strong attention to quality and precision.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings to determine part requirements and tolerances.
• Create, write, edit, and maintain CNC programs with toolpaths and offsets.
• Program CNC routers and machining centers to produce parts per specs.
• Set up CNC machines and verify tooling and material placement.
• Optimize programs to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Modify programs for design or material changes.
• Inspect finished parts and ensure conformance to specs.
• Troubleshoot programming and machine issues to maintain quality.
