Job summary

Amentum Space Exploration Division (ASED) CNC Programmer/Machinist will program and operate CNC mills and lathes to produce materials test specimens and test fixtures to support the Space Launch System (SLS) vehicle at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center. The machinist will also perform manual machining operations as necessary.

The role is on-site with 60% shop/40% office work; requires US citizenship and STAR ID, and familiarity with SURFCAM, CAM mills/lathes, and manual machining.

Qualifications

• US citizenship and STAR ID required.
• Education: high school diploma/GED or assoc. degree.
• Requires CAM experience (SURFCAM) and skilled machining across CNC/manual equipment.

Responsibilities

• Convert CAD drawings to CNC code (SURFCAM).
• Machine metal parts using CNC and manual methods.
• Operate wire EDM and plunge EDM.
• Maintain clean, safe work area.
• Operate cranes, rig loads, and forklifts.
