Job summary

The American Housing Corporation in Austin, TX is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to develop, optimize, and maintain programs for 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and lathes used to produce components for our building system. Translate engineering drawings and 3D models into efficient toolpaths and ensure safe, repeatable processes.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on CNC Programmer experience in a precision machining environment.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical CNC degree/certificate preferred.
• Proficient with CAM software; Masterscam preferred; others acceptable.
• Strong understanding of G-code/M-code; able to edit programs at the control.
• Experience programming 3-, 4-, and 5-axis CNC equipment.
• Ability to read GD&T and complex drawings; interpret 3D CAD models.
• Solid knowledge of machining principles; tools, speeds/feeds, fixturing.
• Familiarity with metrology tools; CMM experience a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills; able to work independently and in teams.
• Knowledge of advanced CAM features and post-processor customization.

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings and CAD models to determine machining processes, tooling and fixtures.
• Create, edit, and optimize CNC programs for 3-, 4-, 5-axis machines and multitasking mills.
• Generate toolpaths to maximize material removal and minimize cycle times.
• Select tools and parameters based on material properties.
• Perform prove-outs, first-article inspections, and process validation.
• Troubleshoot tool wear, chatter, dimensional errors, and surface finishes.
• Maintain organized program libraries and setup sheets.
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production to improve manufacturability.
• Support continuous improvement for cycle time and scrap reduction.
• Adhere to safety and quality policies; maintain clean work environment.
