Job summary

Blue Origin's Advanced Manufacturing Machine shop is seeking multiple CNC Machine Programmers to create CAM programs for complex 3, 4, and 5 axis machines and to machine the parts on nickel-based alloys that support spaceflight assemblies.

You will work with engineering to document production processes, program and set up machines, and ensure safety, quality, and on-time delivery in a collaborative team environment while supporting multiple shifts and relocation.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience with 3, 4 and 5 axis CNC machining.
  • 10+ years of experience with manual mill and lathe.
  • 7+ years of NX experience.
  • Strong GD&T understanding and inspection skills per ASME Y14.5M.
  • Ability to thrive in a constantly evolving environment.
  • Ability to take on challenges with incomplete information and pivot to drive progress.
  • Work well in a collaborative team environment.
  • Experience machining nickel-based stainless-steel alloys (Inconel, Monel, etc.), copper, aluminum and/or titanium.
  • Extensive experience with Mazak, Hass, DMG Mori, Mori Seiki, and/or Okuma.
  • Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol or other CNC controls.
  • Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per current ASME Y14.5M.
  • Familiar with use of personal computers.
  • Ability to provide Design for Manufacturing feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Machine product from cradle to grave: evaluate, select work-holding & tooling, program, setup, machine and inspect, while communicating with design teams throughout the entire life cycle.
  • Programming, set up and machining of 3, 4 and 5 axis mills, multi axis lathes, and development of critical machining processes.
  • Operation of other equipment as required, both NC controlled and manual.
  • Working with engineering to document and standardize production processes.
  • Partner with leadership and engineering to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals.
  • Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications.
  • Perform daily maintenance and regular cleaning of machinery and equipment.
  • Perform all tasks in safe and responsible manner.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Blue Origin's Advanced Manufacturing Machine shop is seeking multiple CNC Machine Programmers. In this position, you will create CAM programs for complex, multi-axis machines, then machine those programs. You will fine-tune and create the parts on nickel-based alloys that directly support multiple spaceflight assemblies across Blue Origin.

Responsibilities:

  • Extensive experience with one or more of the following CNC machines: Mazak, Hass, DMG Mori, Mori Seiki, and/or Okuma.

  • Working knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Mazatrol or other CNC controls.

  • Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per current ASME Y14.5M standard.

  • Familiar with use of personal computers.

  • Ability to provide Design for Manufacturing feedback.

Must be physically able to:
  • Lift and carry 50 lbs.

Desired:
  • Experience machining vehicle-sized tooling

  • Experience in integrating metrology in-line with machining

  • Experience machining nickel-based stainless-steel alloys, copper, titanium.

  • Tooling and fixture design.

  • Outside processing knowledge, including heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.

  • CMM programming/operation experience.

  • Conversational programming on the machine.

  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts.
