Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking skilled machinists to operate CNC and EDM equipment shaping components for BE3 engines. You will read blueprints, interpret GD&T, and work with multi-axis lathes and mills while coordinating with engineering to ensure production readiness.

The role involves establishing new production layouts, ensuring safety and quality, and participating in continuous improvement projects across the manufacturing floor. U.S. citizenship or eligible status is required.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED plus a trade school degree, military or equivalent experience.
  • X+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus in CNC or EDM machining.
  • Proficient in CNC programming using offline software (UG, Esprit, MasterCam).
  • Experience with AgieCharmilles EDM machines and/or various CNC controls (Okuma, Fanuc).
  • Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
  • Knowledge of GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standards.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work at heights or in confined spaces.
  • US citizenship or eligible status.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate CNC controlled machines, including multi-axis lathes and mills, to produce precision parts.
  • Program and set up AgieCharmilles wire and sinking EDM machines, ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Read blueprints and GD&T to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Assist in setting up new production work areas, layouts, tooling, and equipment configuration.
  • Utilize multi-axis machining, turning, and grinding centers on various products.
  • Collaborate with leadership to prioritize work based on production schedules.
  • Work with engineering teams to document and standardize production processes.
  • Facilitate transition from development to production with engineering.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement projects to enhance safety and efficiency.
  • Perform second-party verification of manufactured hardware and assist in transition to production.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. You will be responsible for running the machines that shape components for our BE3 engines.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED, plus a trade school degree,Military,orequivalentyearsofrelevant experience."

  • X+years ofexperiencein a manufacturing environment, witha focus in CNCor EDM machining

  • Proficient in CNC programming using offline software such as UG, Esprit, orMasterCam.

  • Experience withAgieCharmillesEDM machines and/orvarious CNC controls(Okuma, Fanuc, etc.).

  • Strong ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, and work instructions.

  • Experience withblueprint reading, including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standards.

  • Knowledge of outside processing techniques (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.).

  • Ability to lift 50lbs and comfortable working at heights(work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.

  • Proficiencyin digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or legally admitted refugee.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Tooling and fixture design.

  • DMG Mori 5-axis experience.

  • Mazak 5-axis experience.

  • Outside processing knowledge including heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.

  • CMM programming/operation experience

  • CNC programming skills, preferably Mastercam or NX

  • Conversational programming on the machine

  • Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts
