Job summary

Dahlquist Machine by Fathom in Minnesota is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to develop and optimize programs for both milling and turning on high‑mix parts. The role focuses on manufacturability, efficiency, and repeatability to shorten setup times and improve cycle times while meeting tight quality standards.

You will collaborate with machinists, supervisors, and QA to ensure production‑ready programs, support first‑article and NPI efforts, and drive continuous improvement in tooling,

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of CNC programming experience in a job shop or high‑mix environment.
• Experience with CAM software GibbsCAM required.
• Experience programming milling and turning operations.
• Experience with 4+1 and 5-axis machining preferred.
• Strong knowledge of tooling, feeds and speeds, and machining strategies.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and applying GD&T.
• Hands‑on machining or setup experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Program CNC milling and turning operations using GibbsCAM, including 4+1 and 5-axis machining.
• Develop new programs for incoming parts with manufacturability in mind.
• Optimize existing programs to reduce cycle times and tool wear.
• Create setup documentation and support machinists during prove-out.
• Collaborate with machinists, QA, and engineers to ensure first article success.
• Troubleshoot programming, tooling, and process issues in production.
